FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are there age requirements?    Yes, 7 years and older, however if you have a large enough group we can possibly book a family tour which will allow younger children.  With these tours your child must be heavier than 30 lbs due to life jackets sizes.

Is there a weight limit?    The kayaks max copacity is 475 lbs.  They are tandem kayaks so the weight restrictions can be anywhere from 240 lbs to 350 lbs.  There are however limits on how wide our spray skirts can go.  The spray skirts are not required for the trips.

What should I wear?      Typically I wear a bathing suit, t-shirt, tennis shoes and a hat.  A light rain jacket is always a great idea due to changing weather conditions.  Sunscreen and sunglass are also recommended.

Do you cancel due to bad weather?    We will cancel due to weather.  We do however leave that decision up to the guide.  Usually weather will come and go within a few minutes.  They say if you don’t like the weather in Colorado, wait five minutes.  Like any mountain area weather can be completely different five miles away so if you are in Breckenridge and the weather is terrible chances are ten miles down the road in Frisco it is great.

Can we bring a camera?    Yes! There are dry areas to store your camera.  If you have a larger camera your storage areas may be limited.  Smaller digital cameras fit perfectly tucked in under your life jacket.

Will I get wet?    Like any water-sport the chances of getting wet are there, however this is usually a dry trip.  You most often get wet from your paddle stroke and wind which is minimal

I have never kayaked before.  Is that ok?    Of course! These tours are geared more towards the beginner.  Not only will you learn correct paddling technique but you will also learn a ton about the local area.

Are the kayak seats comfortable? Is there good back support?    The kayaks we use are Necky Manitou II.  Each kayak is outfitted with what is call an “Active Comfort System” seat.  Each seat is very adjustable and has more than enough back support.  By far the most comfortable kayak seat I have ever sat in.  Click on the link below to check out our kayaks.

What is your cancellation policy?    A 50% deposit is required for each reservation.   Deposits are fully refundable up to 48 hours prior to the trip departure time.  If you must cancel a trip within the 48 hours we can only reschedule.

Will I tip over?    We have yet to see anyone capsize these boats.  One of the reasons we only use tandem kayaks is their ability to withstand a large amount of waves and they are typically twice as stable as a solo.  When we first received these boats I was very surprised at their stability.
